Local Epistemological Perceptions that Underlie EFL Literature and Teaching Practices in Colombia

This study aims to understand the local and updated epistemological perceptions of teaching learning English as a foreign language (EFL) in Colombia from voices university teachers. qualitative research emerges part hermeneutical perspective which allowed authors analyze experiences, perceptions, understandings teachers language-teaching field. Data collection instruments included literature review using framework matrices semi-structured interviews. After data analysis, three categories emerged: Pertinence Relevance Teaching Learning EFL, The State Bilingualism. concludes with recommendation promoting languages based on contextualized necessities Colombia. We draw attention cultural linguistic diversity our country. In addition, we raise awareness among preservice towards an reconstruction that involves ecology knowledge, engaging them critical knowledge practices outside Eurocentric vision.
